Itech Environmental Remediation recently attended a residential spill in Millgrove, Ontario where a residential fuel oil tank had leaked into the basement. The fuel oil tank had rusted through and resulted in a loss of approximately 200 litres of fuel oil onto a 2” thick concrete floor in a crawl space. The fuel oil immediately impacted the soils beneath the house and the ground water which was inches beneath the building's footing. Itech was able to respond quickly, providing emergency spill response services by cleaning up the ditches and providing wastewater collection tanks to capture the water being expelled by the sump pump.

A waste water treatment trailer was quickly set-up to process and clean the wastewater which was discharged into the ditch limiting further use of vac trucks. A structural engineer provided specifications for underpinning to remove the impacted soils beneath the house and the footings enabling progressive forward remediation of the site.

Itech Environmental Remediation was able to quickly remediate to non-detect, working with the insurance company’s consultant and is now completing the site restoration and landscaping.

Itech Environmental Remediation will provide a free written estimate for spill remediation services anywhere in Ontario. Call Itech at 877-324-4402 for details. *Certain conditions apply.
