Tanker Roll Over in Kilworthy
Posted: August 9, 2010

Itech Environmental has the skill, experience, and equipment to respond to emergencies of varying sizes. A very large spill occurred on Highway 11 near Kilworthy, ON. Due to a traffic accident a tanker loaded with home heating oil rolled onto the centre median. A hole was torn in the tank releasing approximately 8,000 litres of oil onto the roads surface and adjacent drainage ditches. Itech was retained to attend the emergency as well as follow up with a full site remediation. Upon completion of the cleanup approximately 2,000 tonnes of impacted soil and 1,330,000 litres of impacted snow and surface water were removed for disposal or treatment.

The most challenging aspect of this remediation was not the size of the spill but the timing. The March weather varied from rain to snow each day. Once the contaminated melting snow was being controlled another foot would arrive overnight and begin melting the next day, complicating the process.

Itech Environmental Services will provide a free written estimate for spill remediation services anywhere in Ontario. Call Itech at 877-324-4402 for details. *Certain conditions apply.
