In April of 2010 a truck carrying a container loaded with liquid latex rubber rolled on Highway 11 in Novar, ON. The container disconnected from the trailer crashing into the guardrail and rolling into the roadside ditch. Impact to the guardrail caused the container to explode spilling 20,000 litres of liquid latex over the roadway and ditch. A river of latex poured down the gradient to an adjacent roadway and railway track.
Itech worked to scrape the latex from the surface and excavate it from the deeper soils in areas where it had pooled and saturated the ground.
Itech coordinated between several parties including CN Rail, MTO, the local municipality, the insurance company and various others to complete the remediation successfully.
