Confined Space Entry and Rescue
Confined spaces provide some of the most dangerous and stressful work environments for employees. Entry and exit points are limited, room to work is restricted, and hazardous gases, vapours, or mists can create treacherous conditions.
What is a Confined Space?
A confined space means a fully or partially enclosed space:
- that is not designed nor constructed for continuous human occupancy
- in which atmospheric hazards may occur because of its construction, location or contents, or because of work that is done in or around it
Itech Environmental Services has trained personnel to make this work a safe experience. We can provide cleaning services for storage tanks, vessels, silos, storage bins, railcar tanks, hoppers, vaults, pits, and more. Do you have cleaning crews of your own? Let us provide Standby Rescue services to make sure cleaning is conducted without incident. If rescue is required, we’re prepared to move ahead safely but effectively.
Atmospheric Monitoring in Confined Spaces
Itech utilizes state-of-the-art calibrated monitoring instruments (as per manufacturers’ requirements) to conduct testing prior to entering the confined space, as well as while the work is being completed. Our continuous monitoring ensures that correct oxygen levels are present, alerts us to the presence of combustible gases, and toxic gas levels are tracked. Proper risk assessment of your confined space allows our team to determine appropriate PPE to be worn, and actions required.
Confined Space Entry and Rescue Training
Itech offers in-house training services for confined space awareness, entry, and rescue. Our standby and rescue personnel are trained in CSE (Confined Space Entry), SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus), HAZWOPER, First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, and PPE selection.
